I guess from an advertising perspective the internet is great for the sex industry and private workers more specifically. It gives them an opportunity to showcase their individual talents and attributes and to market themselves as different to the next lady because of……
But in general I believe that the internet has had a majorly harmful effect on the sex industry. Internet dating has helped to kill the sex industry by providing free sex with strangers who are open to hooking up one time only! Hell I have been guilty of it myself once!
Why would you pay a stranger for sex when you can get it for free? Granted the stranger may be nothing like what he/she says they are on their dating page but this can also happen in the sex industry. Long time clients will be no stranger to being told a girl is 21 when she is actually 35, or a size 8 when actually a curvy size 12. So why pay for those lies when you can get them for free? Sex is sex right?
The sex industry is a dying craze, people are more relaxed about having sex and it is so much easier to access a random person or have access to a ‘fuck buddy’ than ever before. People want less commitment and more sex with no ties and no cost if possible.
So why is there a part of the industry that is steadily growing? The ‘appointment only high end’ segment.
Maybe because once a brand is established then it is a failsafe way to have discreet sex with a top class woman? Or maybe because ‘hooking up one time’ becomes boring after so many horror stories?
Or maybe because boutique ‘appointment only’ places have to work on the long term view where as private girls can often get away with artistic licence because they are not intending to be around for long!
So is the internet good for the sex industry? From a 16 year Madam’s perspective it is a mixed bag. Personally I have points of view to share that will be in my next blog post!

Clarification from Mistress Maria
The topic has been raised recently on a National Forum about the legitimacy of working girls who also work as Dominatrix but under different names. While it is NOT lost on me why this topic has been raised, it has brought up a very good issue which I am about to explain from a sane, rational business perspective.
And for the visual amongst us here is Michelle vs. Mistress Bathory:
- Having different names for different persona's clarifies and identifies needs and tastes immediately. We have four websites, Funhouse, The MM Club, Mistress Mariah and Mummy Mariah (Age play specific). We are also listed on other escort and general directories throughout NZ and the rest of the world. When a prospective client calls and asks about a particular lady it is always good to instantly ascertain what type of service he may be looking for and the fastest way to do that is to get the name of the person he is phoning about.
- When a client phones about hmmmm ‘let’s say Michelle’ I immediately know that he is calling about a Funhouse full service so I click into GFE, tie and tease, sexy lingerie, low cut girlie dress spiel about Michelle. If he asks about Mistress Bathory (same woman, different service, different website) then I straight away know he wants some form of BDSM service. Her in PVC corset, short tight PVC skirt, fetish heels, dominant attitude, maybe a little cross dressing or bondage, that kind of thing!
- If I get this wrong at the early stage of a phone relationship with a new or nervous client I risk either scaring away a potential GFE client, or I make a submissive believe that he is asking about the wrong person. SIMPLE Right!?
- Here at Funhouse and The MM Club we have ladies who make their bread and butter living providing Funhouse full service but are interested in training as an apprentice Domme. For this to happen these ladies have to have natural ability, empathy, compassion, a serious understanding of sexuality and a certain level of intelligence, (without which of course they wouldn’t have been hired in the first place!) These girls are not your average working girls, and I say that in a non-judgmental way. There are average everythings in this life, but we don’t do average they just don’t work out

No price increase for RWC at Funhouse & MM Club
I have been asked so many times lately if we are putting up our prices for the RWC ?
The answer is NO !!!
I personally think it is really dishonest. I know a lot of industries are doing it but I think it is wrong.
In the minds of many NZ clients Funhouse and the MM Club prices are bordering on expensive anyway but I am sure to a lot of international visitors we will still be cheap. But that is what our prices are and that is what they will be during the RWC.
We already have a healthy level of regular international clients so how do we distinguish potential regular bookers from one off RWC clients? How do locals get a chance to see their favourite girl if the prices go up? And how will I get into heaven if I start being dishonest?
And heaven forbid if the girls all of a sudden don’t want to work for anything less than inflated prices that happen because of a six week visitor spike!
What would a Madam do??

Secrets from MM's handbag
Yesterday I found myself in front of a documentary camera once again. An overseas company, French this time, asking questions about rugby World Cup and the effects it will have on the NZ sex industry. Of course they also wanted to know just general insider secrets and information about the industry.
Whenever I have these doco makers pointed in my direction they are aware I have had a long life of experience in the sex industry as a Madam, but usually have no idea I am also a seasoned Dominatrix so the first hour or so of their time is generally full of their personal inquiries about what it is ‘really’ like to be a Domme. Lots of pointing and asking ‘what is that and how does it work?’ and questions about who my clients are and why they seek out such a specialised service.
As usually happens they headed out to me with an hour or two booked in their schedule for my interview and left four hours later with a head full of new information and thoughts that challenged their original perceptions of the industry.
Education about the ins and outs of the world I live in, a glimpse behind the veil of illusion and magic that surround the entire gamut of what we provide for the clients we see. Education about what it is ‘actually’ like to work in the sex industry. Education that is not available unless you work in the industry yourself or talk to someone with a decent breadth of knowledge and personal experience of the good and bad sides of this wonderful industry of ours.
Imparting knowledge to those thirsty for it and those who will take that knowledge and help push this much maligned industry into the light, away from the terrible dark image it has, away from the place in peoples minds where a sex worker is a woman who walks the streets putting herself at risk of all kinds of harm, both physical and psychological. Away from the belief that a sex worker is a person with no other career choices open to them.
This is what drives me!
Sure I am a business woman first and a Madam/Domme second but the thing that has kept me going for almost 17 years so far is the awareness that my input through my work, my lifting of work standards, my dedication to detail and my passion for my job are helping the industry in general to become a safer and happier place for workers and clients alike.
So I got to thinking after the doco crew left yesterday… I need to spill my handbag of secrets onto a blog. Finally….
